Through our research and activities, we make a clear case for implementing economic sharing as pragmatic solution to a broad range of interconnected global crises governments are failing to address – such as hunger, poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental destruction and conflict over the world’s natural resources.
STWR calls on governments to convene a summit at the United Nations General Assembly to:
- Implement an emergency program of humanitarian relief to end extreme deprivation and needless poverty-related deaths as a foremost global priority.
- Convene a worldwide public consultation to negotiate an unprecedented program to reform the global economy, with a major focus on:
- Guaranteeing access to adequate social protection and essential public services for all;
- Establishing a just and sustainable global food system, and guaranteeing universal access to nutritious food as a basic human right;
- Instituting an international framework for sharing natural resources equitably and within planetary limits.
